Modern quilting is sometimes hard to define and can mean many different things.
Modern quilting is sometimes hard to define and can mean many different things.
Many of the traditional "rules" you may have in your head could be thrown out the window when it comes to modern quilts. This could mean changing up a traditional block, using alternate grid layout styles, featuring bold colors and prints, or even improvisation.

Cost of being a member
One year membership costs $50 for January 1 – December 31. If you join between July 1 – December 31, the cost is $25. Membership to BRMQG includes membership to the national MQG and access to all of their resources while still having a local group to participate in.

Nope! We have members across the entire state, some out of state, and even international! We host our meetings via Zoom so that all of our members can be a part of the fun!

YES! Guests are always welcome at our monthly meetings. If you attend more than two times, we ask that you join as a member.

YES! Even if it's your first meeting feel free to bring something to share! It doesn't even need to be a completed project. Show us what you're working on!

Do I have to be strictly a modern quilter?
No! There is room for everyone to do their own thing with this group, from intricate thread painting to wild improvisation and a lot of other things in between. Some of us revel in the precision of a 1/4" seam, points that meet exactly together, and using traditional elements. Meanwhile others of us just don't care about any of that and really embrace innovation and thinking outside of the "rules". We really just focus on encouraging each other to create things that are beautiful and meaningful to their creator.
